Comics Ate My Brain

A small question

Filed under: atom, questions — Tom Bondurant @ 6:47 pm
This has been bugging me for a while: how long will The All-New Atom keep “All-New” in its title?

The cynic in me notes that the title isn’t selling all that well (just under 17,000 in June), so the issue may be moot before too long.

Still, though … issue 25? Issue 50?

  1. Well the New Teen Titans only stopped being “new” briefly when that title was changed to Tales of the Teen Titans before being changed back to the New Teen Titans… eventually the “teen” got dropped but they remained The New Titans right up to the end of that books run (issue 130 iirc).

  2. D’oh! You’d think I’d have remembered the Titans … uh, so to speak. So yeah — the Tales switch was just after the end of the third year, but really, the group went almost eight years before becoming New Titans. And not to get too deep into the semantics, but I think the “New” in “New Titans” is different from the “New” in “New Teen Titans.” I figured the New Titans were new compared to the Titans of Myth, so they could afford to be “new” for a while. However, the New Teen Titans would soon become the Regular Teen Titans after a while. I’m guessing the same thing will happen to the New Avengers eventually…. Man, that’s more than anyone wants to hear on this topic, I’ll bet….

  3. If DC hadda sense of humnor, they’d gradually change the tag line every issue after a while…”The Sorta-New Atom””The Not as New as He Was Three Years Ago Atom””The Atom, But Still Not Ray Palmer”
